REDEFINING BUFFET: Manila Pavilion’s Palate

Celebrating its first holiday dinner for Php 999 every Friday and Satruday, Italian Executive Chef Giovanni Sias reintroduces a new take on savoring eat-all-you-can.

“In Italy, everything is prepared and served fresh from the kitchen. Buffets are usually found intimidating and costly with the food laid out waiting to be indulged. With ours, you get a vast array of choices which is plreasant to your eye, made fresh by batches and refilled only when the demand asks for it.” Sias explains.

buffetTruth to Sias roots, Seasons’ is taking buffet into a different level where cooking is elevated to performance art using only the freshest and finest ingredients including micro-greens.

For the month of November, Season’s is taking us to a gastronomic tour of International buffet celebrating every nationality. A great value for money.

“We’ve got staples and a mix of what holidays the other nationalities have. We’re having Vegetable Samosa, Vegetable burgers, Chana Masala, Chicken Tikka; Kasmiri, Pullao and Curry to celebrate India’s Diwali (festival of lights), and some artisan gourmet cheeses, bacon, poutine and maple syrum for Canada’s remebrance day. We’re also having Turkey for the Thanksgiving weekend, and fresh hand-pulled noodles into perfection. We don’t forget the fun in devouring great food.” Sias added.

Enjoy the food festival buffet only at Season’s Lifestyle Restaurant located at the lobby floor of Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino, United Nations ave. Ermita, Manila from 6PM to 10:30PM on Friday’s and Saturday’s. Children under the age of 5 years old are free of charge.

Christmas Buffet? Tuscany at Manila Pavilion’s Seasons

To give a taste of Tuscany to Manila Pavilion’s esteemed guests, Seasons presents a smorgasbord of authentic Italian specialties.

Diners can choose from four live culinary stations from appetizers, noodles, grill items, down to desserts, give diners more gustatory options for a splendid repast. Taking from Italy’s richest cuisines, must-try signature dishes include midollo in salsa verde, stinco de agnello in umido, tortelli di zucca, fegatini di pollo and cantucci toscani among others.

Seasons all-you-can-eat themed revelry is offered at Php999nett for dinner every Friday only. For the gastronomic adventurers who want to further satisfy their cravings, they can fete also on a la carte menu teeming with dishes from around the globe.

Set amidst a nature-inspired atmosphere accentuated with a vibrant interplay of colors, Seasons is located at the lobby level of Manila Pavilion Hotel and is open daily from 6am to 10:30am for breakfast buffet, 11:30am to 3:00pm for lunch and 6pm to 10:30pm for dinner.

Viking’s : OpenRice.Com Review

I always have a good reason to celebrate and find good food to enjoy with family or friends but this time, for our visit to Viking’s, it was both for a good and sad reason. Good because it marks a beginning of something new and exciting for me at the workplace but sad because I need to say goodbye to a bunch of great people at work to give way to a re-assignment. Read on and know my Viking’s food story. We called in for a reservation but not ready to see that there was a swarm of people waiting in line outside. Actually, not literally in line, but people everywhere! So we have been told that even those who have reserved for tables, needed to be called by number until a table inside gets freed up. And then the rest of the countless peeps there, were among those who decided to walk in, hoping to have reservations cancelled.  It turns out, that your reservation can get cancelled when the receptionist calls your number and no one comes up to get it. So after a little over an hour of waiting (while standing up), we finally got our table.

So as soon as we got seated, we scampered like we didn’t know each other and headed to the food table. It was probably because of wait time that I decided to go fill my plate with just about anything I fancy. I made a mental note to just get one or two pieces of each so I can sample as much food as I can. That’s what buffets do to me, I end up planning what to put into my plate for a little less size than usual so I can squeeze in more into the plate. By the way, no one was celebrating birthday but a server handed us a birthday cake and we just had to take a picture of it.

Whatever waiting we had to do, it was worth the wait because the food delivered more than what it promised, hopped from one food bar to the next and even ordered food to get sent to the table (baked oysters, Shrimp Sigang, barbecue and even crabs!)

I promised myself to get better at making reservations (weekday lunch, maybe) so I can get a better experience at it.

Tong Yang Hot Pot : OpenRice.Com Review

I love both my mom and mom-in-law. Both have become strong mom models for me and have shaped me to be the mom I am now. My mom and mom-in-law are different from each other but we celebrate life milestones the same. So to celebrate my mom-in-law’s birthday, my husband my sisters-in-law trooped to the nearest Tong Yang Hot Pot to enjoy good food and to remember family blessings. We usually seat ourselves strategically around the buffet table. I personally survey all the buffet tables first before I go for a plate. My husband usually picks up salad as appetizer, some of friends would go for fruit, I go for whatever I feel like having as appetizer, can be fruits, canapés or even ice cream! Then if it is Tong Yang Hot Pot, be ready to sit around smoked pots and do your part in grilling and setting up the hot pot (that is part of the food fun). We all helped ourselves to choosing what we want to see in the soup, before we go for our own plates. I am a ‘meat-and-seafood-person’, you can easily tell with my body (wink) and what an odd combo too. So I go for the barbecues and I am the first who would order bacon, shrimp and crabs from the kitchen. Yep, bacon, fresh and big shrimps and crabs are available at Tong Yang only if you ask them to be served from the kitchen. Two other things we do at Tong Yang buffet? We never eat any of the rice or pasta and we never gulp on unlimited drinks until we are done with our plate or at least until we feel we had to drink. After gorging on everything we have cooked and plated, if you still have space in your tummy, you can try their dessert table. Just make sure you ask for a clean ice cream scooper for your turn, it can get so murky with excessive buffet ice cream use.
