It was SKY family weekend fun last 25th of July as Sky Cable celebrated its 25th anniversary with a family offering at Rockwell Tent. Both kids and the young at heart enjoyed a day full of pinoy games and kids’ favorite activities. Makingworkingmomswork was there to witness all of the games and it was indeed a playback afternoon as Sky Cable brought us back to an authentic Pinoy afternoon game time.
All Pinoy games such as life-size dama, jackstones, pick up sticks, piko and tumbang preso booths were open for both kids and parents to play. The kids also had their mouths open as the Yoyo master showed off his yoyo tricks. All moms present, I’m sure was reminded about how kids would spend afternoons sweating and playing under the sun instead of today’s usual tablet/computer games fun.
All participants went home with full tummies and bags care of Sky Cable and sponsors. As if the game and food booths were not enough, attendees went home with the best take-away of classic Pinoy game memories in mind. Particularly liked the tent decorated with Pinoy kites, bringing back memories of old-school yarn, plastic and sticks childhood memories and they even set up a kite-making and claydough booth!
Pinoy music booth was also nostalgic plus screen time with everything you want from Sky Cable, toys left and right, the event was a big hit to all kids present. Thanks Sky Cable for making this possible! To another 25 years!

Do you remember the days past when a student does not get prepared for what course to take in college until your final year in highschool? Long waiting game is over because as early as childhood, your kids can be guided what they want to become and what they want to be trained for, when they grow up. This is where KidZania Manila can help mommies like me. So off we went to KidZania Go!, a sneak peak experience on what KidZania Manila has to offer. KidZania Manila is set to open soon at Bonifacio Global City.
Since the teaser event had all kids join an hourly session, the 2pm session started with gathering all of the kids to work with art materials. Kids were given crayons and coloring sheets to complete and to have the first glimpse of what KidZania is all about. What I appreciate is the teacher ratio. They assigned a significant number of teachers to help the kids go around the booths, complete the activities, sanitize hands, tie up aprons and even help mommies take pictures.
Beebop’s Gallery is where the afternoon started, with my kids handed aprons to wear, paintbrush and paint palette to use. Kids chose to paint on the walls or on the tables. My kids got busy painting a chandelier spot on the wall. Teachers handed them mini-slides to color as soon as they are done.
Urbano the scientist took them all to the Science lab. Kids sure looked so cute wearing lab gowns and gloves before proceeding with the experiment for the day. They tried their hands on mixing ink, water and oil and got a mini Science-class/explanation around the activity.
Chika who has the will to share, encouraged kids to step into her bakeshop kitchen. With hair caps and aprons in tow, kids were given ingredients to a frost-it-yourself cookie sets. With the Kidzania jingle playing, it was not too long before kids started singing along and greeting each other bye with : Zee you! as they all prep to go to the next learning area.
Now Vita, is the agriculture advocate. Kids’ hands got dirty with soil, shovel, plants and mini-watering cans. All of these while donning farmers’ hats. By the way, everything that kids got to prepare, they got to bring home, too.
Finally, it was time to meet the one who completes the KidZania team, Bache dog – and showed everyone how it is to have the will to play. All KidZania character mascots showed up onstage, sang and danced to the KidZania jingle.
Among the highlights of the day for me, was seeing my kids Gab and Sofia sign up on the KidZania Go! wall, answering the question: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Sofia whose love for Science was driven home by Urbano, signed her name with Doctor before it, while Gab whose love and admiration for his Daddy had to wrote Pastor Gab. KidZania committed to have more profession booths ready in time for opening this year.
Declaring God’s promise for the great future awaiting kids of today’s generation:
Psalm 103:17 ESV But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children.
Checked my email one random day and both delighted and surprised to see a complimentary voucher from Lazada. I have always been a fan of Lazada online shopping which used to be my go-to-find-a-quick-item tool for my previous Trainer slash Mommy life. So I went on to check out what I can find from Lazada Online Shopping. After oohing and aahing over the list of items on sale, finally found the perfect item to order, a kitchen addition – oven toaster.
So when the order confirmation page told me that I will most likely get the item 1 to 7 days after, my mind went on Philippine delivery timeframe default of expecting the item gets delivered close to the 7th quoted day. To my surprise again, two days after I clicked submit order, I have the item right at my doorstep. In a matter of two days, also appreciated Lazada for giving their customers a string of order status confirmation to get yourself updated wherever your parcel is at for a specific date and time.
If you are like any other mommies I know, we need things fast and easy so we can devote more time to things that last. My order came earlier than I expected that I had enough time to plan what I want to use it for in time for my kids’ baon preparation. So kids and I went ahead with testing it with their favourite cheese sandwich (toasted cheese, butter, with a pinch of sugar sandwich). I will definitely go to Lazada again for my mom-needs.

Imagine a slice of your favorite bread wafting out with that distinct hot-off-the-oven-aroma. That was what my son and I had first-hand when we went to visit Gardenia Plant in Laguna. Have you ever wondered how that bread is made? It was a fun-filled day of discovery as we witnessed and tasted what Gardenia is all about.
As soon as we have landed, we have met Gardee, life size Gardenia mascot. Both moms and kids had a blast learning a LOT about everything bread. For starters, it was encouraging to be taught how to check for freshness of bread. Breads have different shelf lives. Some are good for 3, 5 or 7 days, while others stay at their best anywhere from 10 to 14 days. All my grocery-life, I have mistakenly been checking expiry date when I need to be checking the bread’s baking and delivery day to get more accurate information. Case in point: bread that expires in 5 days may actually be already 5 days old if its “Best Before” date is within 10 days. Aside from this, it is also important to look for other attributes such as softness, freshly baked aroma, great taste and nutritive value.
It was also a day of sampling what mommies can make out of Gardenia bread. There is this Gardenia bread turned into Mexican tuna canapé with liver spread, baked chocolate muffins with strawberry, summer roll sandwich with seafood, special raisin cannoli, no-bake butterscotch in a jar, chocolate eclairs with cherry on top. It added to my list of baon ideas as my son made sure to ask if he can have them as baon for class next week.
Then the plant tour began. Gab hopped from one station to the next while voice-over accurately tells us what we can see around the plant.
Kids worked with their own hands as a Gardenia Nutritionist showed them how to create their own Refrigerator cake using Gardenia Chocolate & Mocha loaf. Kids also took the time to write personal thank-you-messages to all the moms.
Special thanks to Mommy Bloggers Philippines for organizing the Gardenia Plant Tour aptly titled as Super Moms Deserve only World-Class Quality.
